Showing Up.

‘80% of success in life is showing up’
Woody Allen

‘Smacht’ is the wonderful Irish word for
showing up, particularly when you
don’t feel like it.

Winners don’t show up only when
they’re strong and powerful and
dangling a Honey on their arm.

They show up when they’re knackered
and beaten and their nearest and
dearest have abandoned and lost faith
in them.

Instinctively they know that success is
ultimately a numbers game and that
failure and success are the twin sides
of the one coin.

Congratulations to Therese Maher and
the All Ireland Winning Galway
Camogie Team. Therese had shown up
for Galway for each of the last sixteen
years, including playing in five finals,
and losing each time.

Now, and forever more, she’s an All
Ireland Champion.

We too can become a champion nation
by choosing to show up, whether we
feel like it or not. To show up for our
children, our communities, our
customers, our country – ourselves.

That’s Smacht.
